ARTIST STATEMENT:
I returned to art in 1996 after a career as a Library Administrator. In the past I had done oil painting, but discovered colored pencil, which allows for details and depth of color. Colored pencil is a media growing in popularity. The Colored Pencil Society of America has over 1,400 members and has held annual international competitions for the last decade.
I attempt to capture color and design not readily noticed. My floral pictures are more about the colors and shapes found in the foliage than the flowers. The pictures I have done of historical sites or things also work to depict the shape, colors and textures that might be otherwise overlooked. My work is still very much in the developmental stage as I continuously discover new things to enjoy.
