M.C. Armstrong M. C. Armstrong has made a name for herself in the area of installation art. This contemporary art form requires knowledge of a wide variety of media. Four years ago at a seemingly young age she had what she calls her mid-life crises. During this time she put everything she owns in storage and traveled to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. She camped and traveled by car for six months (which is as long as her money held out.) In Australia she had a recurring dream. Since Australian aboriginals value dreams and their messages she feels that her recurring dream was anything but coincidental. Once she returned to Los Angeles and stopped moving around she realized the message behind her dream. So her next set of installations consisted of making precariously balanced stacks of her handmade ceramic bowls. This exploration of clay and its firing processes opened up a whole new world for her, that of ceramics. Currently she is integrated by both form and firing processes. She has been developing her own glazes, has built her own raku kiln and conducts pit firing for her third grade art students.
