Min Li Min was born in Taigu, Shanxi in 1955. From youth he cultivated his curiosity for painting and entered into the Shanxi University oil painting program in 1978 and completed his fellowship in Nanjing by 1983. Min studied under the prominent figures of Liu Haisu and Cheng Dayu. In 1992 Min took residence in the United States and during that same year entered into the US Chinese American Artists' Association. By 1997, Min served as chairman of the organization. In 2003 Min had taken the position of the principal of US Arts Education Torrance branch. As a Chinese painter, Min has had the privilege of the dual cultural scope afforded by both Chinese and American societies. Throughout his work and research, he has attempted to synthesize and expand upon the development of both aesthetic cultures. Min enjoys figure painting as well as land/cityscapes and various still life compositions. Though classical in approach, Mins stylistic advances comprise of a unique synthesis of Russian atmospheric effects and French impressionism. Meanwhile, his painting subjects, as represented by the recent New York Series, embody an evocative American soul. Undeniably enriched by history yet not fully classified as any single school of painting, Min continues to pursue his distinctive vision of oil painting. Min's work is currently represented by Catalina Art Association, Grace Editions, and The Kolibri Fine Arts Gallery. To purchase call: 310-991-7144 or e-mail gabrielle.artistsstudio.pvac@gmail.com
