ARTIST STATEMENT:
I grew up in The San Francisco Bay Area and graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing. I moved to Los Angeles and I have been a South Bay resident for over thirteen years raising three children with my husband. It may seem like I am an artist who never really planned on a life in art.
I have, however, been passionate about art from an early age. As a young adult I took many college level art courses in my spare time. But as the years passed, I found less time to invest in creative endeavors and eventually put my art aside. Then as a stay at home mom I found myself painting with my kids and my love for artistic expression was rekindled. I began taking oil painting, watercolor, pastel and ceramics classes whenever I could. Over the years I have developed confidence in my talent and style. My paintings are colorful and full of energy. I feel blessed to be able to do what I love to do. I think my paintings reflect my happiness.
My other passion is teaching children about art and helping them feel free to create. I have devoted much of my time in the last few years to creating art projects for South Bay art programs. I have recently presented projects for Young at Art, Hands on Art, and Art at your Fingertips to name a few. I also teach art at American Martyrs School in Manhattan Beach, Ca.
